
Dr. Alex Gileles-Hillel is the founder and director of Gileles Lab, dedicated to researching sleep-disordered breathing and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). He earned his Doctor of Medicine (MD) from the Hebrew University Medical School. After completing his medical degree, he finished his pediatric residency at Hadassah Medical Center, where he also pursued a clinical fellowship in pediatric pulmonology.
To deepen his expertise in sleep medicine, Dr. Gileles-Hillel undertook an advanced fellowship at the University of Chicago under the mentorship of Dr. David Gozal, focusing on sleep-disordered breathing and OSA. Following this, he completed a post-doctoral mentored fellowship with the world-renowned vascular biologist Prof. Eli Keshet at the Hebrew University. This experience allowed him to expand his research into the intersection of vascular biology and respiratory disorders.
Dr. Gileles-Hillel has authored over 70 publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals, contributing to the fields of sleep medicine, pediatric pulmonology, and the pathophysiology of OSA. At Gileles Lab, he continues to engage in research, mentor emerging scientists, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams in sleep and respiratory medicine..alex.gileles@mail.huji.ac.il
